Breath prayer verses 3-4, ‘When I am afraid, I put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise — In God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’ David had just been responsible for the annihilation of the people of Nob on the orders of King Saul. He fled to King Achish, the king of Gath in Philistine, enemies of the Israelites. He was recognized and pretended to be insane in order to survive. Beset on all sides, David turns to God. And in the turning, in the trusting, he states, ‘[I] am not afraid.’
The opposite of fear is not courage. The opposite of fear is trust in God. Therein lies our ‘rest.’

Cheri
